Gladstone Phillips is a Jamaican native born in the Parish of St. Elizabeth. When he was 19, he left Jamaica as his Aunt Pet sponsored him for Queens, New York. Gladstone completed his high school diploma in New York and continued his higher learning by earning a degree in Psychology from Borough of Manhattan Community College.

Gladstone Phillips’ new book, Against All Odds, is a testimony of the author’s journey from Jamaica to the United States of America. The autobiography will talk about what convinced and motivated the author to leave his homeland, what life he had to experience as he landed in a different surrounding, and how Gladstone struggled to become the businessman he is known today.
Gladstone is such a humble and inspirational person! The way he narrates his story makes you want to listen with undivided attention. Although he struggled very hard, in the end, he proved why his story was worth writing a book about!
Migrating will never be easy. I, too am from the islands and went through hell with my wife and 3 kids, but with God’s blessings, we found our way after 6 years. Today we are settled in Michigan. Gladstone’s story really made me relive my days. All I can say is that when you have the determination, nobody can come your way and I know Gladstone felt the same.
After reaching the end of the book, I feel motivated to take risks in life. Thank you Gladstone, for giving me the boost I so desperately needed to reach for new horizons. 5 out of 5.
